Intercop, has been and is the result of the enthusiasm of a professional group in the maritime transport sector that in 1993 decided to create and start their activities as Shipping Agents and Stevedoring Operators, with the aim of offering a quality service to all the Shipping Companies and Shipowners that use the Canary Islands ports as their ports of operation.
From the beginning, Intercop assumed that the own development of the maritime traffic would require a greater variety of services and, thus, it was providing itself not only with the necessary and suitable staff, but with the indispensable structures to be able to offer additional and complementary services.
That is why in 1995, Intercop after obtaining the corresponding licenses, permits and accreditations, settled down as International Forwarders, Carriers and Logistic Operators, offering so far the corresponding services to their clients.
The volume of traffic, both of ships and goods, that Intercop has been attending and handling, has increased constantly during all these years, what has enabled Intercop to have nowadays not only a qualified staff, but good facilities, machinery and professional contacts that guarantee its services.
Intercop, recently, and after the appropriate qualifications, permits, and inspections, has managed to be a member of IATA. It has also obtained the corresponding authorization to effect dispatches of all kind of goods before the Customs Authorities. Likewise, Intercop will be shortly certified by the reputable company "Lloyd's Register of Shipping" for the obtention of the ISO 9002 Quality Certificate.
The internationalization of the maritime traffic, among other reasons, has occasioned that, within the total quantity of all type of ships that Intercop has been attending, the variety of nationalities of their crewmembers has increased substantially. For that reason Intercop, in its desire of offering a quality service, has provided itself with a staff that can speak several languages, such as Spanish, English, French, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
